2. The structure of the raid-array seems to differ between Windows and Linux. How should I create partititions with Linux or with Windows?


The linux format is supposed to be the windows format too. However, the linux driver allows you to move the drives from the promise controller to the highpoint one without reformatting; the windows drivers don't allow that.

That is not quite what I ment, although I have two controllers I have only one set of disks... I have the problem that Linux shows a different geometry than Windows and I would like to know if this could cause problems when reading a vfat partition from linux.


I plan to clean them up a bit and send them to Alan; however that needs a bit of time as I want to test such a change thoroughly....
