That's why I thought to modify the driver in the kernel that it uses not /dev/ataraid/... but /dev/sdX during installation process, so that the ataraid-array will be recognised by the installer as a normal scsi-device. The closed-source Promise driver does this and I built a bootdisk around this driver for Mandrake Linux 7.2 and installed the system with this disk. So if you can tell me how to patch the driver that it will use /dev/sdX I could build a installation disk for RH 7.1 and write a little HOWTO for the installation procedure.
