Installing to HPT370 RAID0?

Greetings.

I'm wondering if it is possible to install Linux (RH71 preferably) to a RAID 0 set from my on-board HPT370 controller.  Mainboard is Abit TH7-RAID, currently with WinME on primary partition of the stripe set.   New computer, just got around to installing Linux, realized that problems exist with the HPT370 RAID and standard installer CDs.

Any hope, or do I need to delete the raid set and start fresh?  Or, is it easier to add a hard drive to standard IDE0 channel and install to that?

Many thanks.  Hope this wasn't an oft-repeated question.  Looked through archives and didn't see much.
