Yep, this is what the problem was. There was a particular cable
extension that I wasn't going through when I was plugging headphones
directly into the device. Apparently it just recently went bad.

Yeah, there's so little information there that I didn't even realize it
was capable of acting as an audio interface when I bought it. I fully
expected to have to use a separate interface.
