I came across --ask at devtools-1:1.2.0-1:

    $ grep -ne --ask /usr/bin/makechrootpkg                      ~
    152:		pacman -U --noconfirm --ask=4 -- "${pkgnames[@]/#//root/}"

In view of 
https://gitlab.archlinux.org/pacman/pacman/-/issues/60#note_131515,
should makechrootpkg be modified? --ask was not used in prevoius versions 
of makechrootpkg - at least not the vesrions from the stable repository.
