hi,
I'm one of those guys sticking to old Thinkpads, I have 2 of them, a W520 and a T520, both quadcore with 16Gb ram, one is established as musicmachine (I'm a hobbymusician), the other is my all-day-machine, which already has done VERY heavy video encoding for many many hours now, and still running flawlessly... I love those machines mainly for two reasons: firstly I'm able to open them, mainly for cleaning purposes, fan, replacing heat transfer paste, furthermore it's easy to replace the battery, and secondly: they provide firewire access! I have two Focusrite Saffire 10 Pro soundcards, also working like a charm, and I would be very upset losing the possibility to use them. Both are equipped with Nvidia Optimus technology, thanks to lovely people providing the necessary software on AUR both are running without any constraints, just like entire Archlinux does,
best

You should check that your hard drive isn't failing before reinstalling
everything. That sounds like a symptom of a bad disk if multiple files are
empty that shouldn't be.

What's the output of `file ~/.ssh/siefke_key; ls -lah ~/.ssh/siefke_key`?

All 0 byte files. Much 0 byte files. I not understand what happen here
but I think I need to reinstall Arch Linux.

Hello,

Although this is a little off topic because this is hardware relating to
Arch Linux and not Arch Linux itself, I am curious to see what others use.

ArchWiki has laptop pages, but that doesn't show what people prefer to
use with Arch Linux.

So I have a few questions:

- What Laptop do you use currently for Arch Linux?
- What do you use the Laptop for?
- If you could buy any Laptop for Arch Linux right now, what would you buy?

I got a feeling there will be a range of responses, some standing behind
old Lenovo Thinkpads, and some vouching for modern laptops.

One final question, is there any Laptop company you feel will be a good
asset to the Linux community as a whole? Or better, Arch Linux directly :P

If you respond, thank you for your time :)

Have a good night,
