Still, I think this had potential. We can already see that it would be
useful on some netbooks, so I think it's a step in the right
direction.

While this may be a non-trivial change, I do see the benefit, so I'd
like to implement this _in theory_ at some point. So keep up the good
work and we'll see where we can get with this. I'd recommend filing a
feature request in the bug tracker
