Note that lists, including this one, leave the poster's address in the From: header. That's probably the right thing to do but some people argue about it and some mail clients have problems automatically replying to the list.

But list members are not very careful about unsubscribing or changing email servers.

The result is that addresses that once worked begin to fail and the postmaster complains to the From: address without looking at the List-id: or Reply-To: headers and doing something intelligent.

Most lists send out probes once a month or so and quarantine list members who bounce the probes.
