You want to define your vhosts like so:

NameVirtualHost *:80
<VirtualHost *:80>
  ServerName myvhost
  ....
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost *:80>
  ServerName myothervhost
  ....
</VirtualHost>

If apache cannot determine which vhost to use, it uses the first defined
vhost in your httpd.conf
