I put your changes in and everything is working great.  I just wish that we could use Apache 2.2.

There you will find a patch against 2.0.59 that fixes this particular problem. 

If you read all the comments on that PR you will see that there will be no back-port from 2.2.x, which is a pity since a patch exists. If you really feel like it, you may re-open the PR and bug some developer into accepting to include it into a future release of 2.0.x. In that case I will add a comment to the effect that I have had that patch in production for a few months and it works fine...

You mentioned applying the fixes from 2.2 to 2.0.  Would I get the source code for mod_cache.so and mod_disk_cache.so from the 2.2 project, put it in the proper directories on apache 2.0 and the rebuild?
