As a newbie I found most of my more useful info at apache.org.

What’s better, it’s free J

 

If you really have to have a book, Pro Apache and The Apache Cookbook are goodies and a little newbie friendly.
If you mean “Seriously newbie” as in never even installed Apache, I’d go with Apache: The Definitive Guide.
