[users@httpd] Apache for Windows with SSL binaries issue

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I am hunter, the guy who provides the Apache for Windows with SSL
binaries at hunter.campbus.com. In case you don't know, the files are
hosted from my friend's shared server at brandleadershipmarketing.com.

Last Friday the tech support disabled the apache directory because
someone at 222.124.32.228 made 6729 downloads. This download, in
addition to many others trying to get the lastest upgrade, seriously
degraded the server and impacted other sites that are hosted on the
same server. This has happened before when the files were hosted on
hunter.cambus.com and that is why they are not hosted there anymore.

I asked the tech support to firewall this IP address and they
re-enabled the directory. However, they warned me that if it happens
again they will disable the directory indefinately until a better
solution is found. I guess I need a dedicated server but I don't want
the expense of this.

I am telling you about his so that you know my situation and I am
looking for suggestions so that I can continue to provide these files.

Chris Lewis
