	Bah phooey.
	This is just me not wholly rewriting my config files to account for the differences between 2.0 and 2.2 - missed a few "IfDefine SSL" lines ...
	Sorry about that.
	BTW, you're right - the doc is out of date.  Deliberately put in an error and apachectl configtest puked it right up.
