A NOTE has been added to this issue. ====================================================================== <https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=2255> ====================================================================== Reported By: rapsure Assigned To: tiwai ====================================================================== Project: ALSA - driver Issue ID: 2255 Category: PCI - atiixp Reproducibility: always Severity: minor Priority: normal Status: assigned Distribution: Gentoo Kernel Version: 2.6.17.3 ====================================================================== Date Submitted: 07-03-2006 18:53 CEST Last Modified: 08-07-2006 07:48 CEST ====================================================================== Summary: The ATIIXP only supports up to 6 channel audio, and does not route correctly with the ALC850 Description: Because the ATIIXP driver only supports up to 6 channel audio this causes it to not be able to route the audio correctly when the ALC850 is used for the AC97 decoding. This is fairly bad because the audio can't be fixed with changing the routes in the .asoundrc. It would be nice to see this fixed. ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rapsure - 07-03-06 20:04 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The behavior is that when 4 channel audio is selected the output in one channel lower than it is supposed to be. The audio channels on the output are labled mic_in rear, front out,line-in, center & woofer, back surround, and side surround. When 4 channel is set the output is at the front out, and center & woofer for the rear channel. When the option to play front in the rear speakers is selected the audio is routed correctly to the front out, and rear surround. In 6 channel mode the center & woofer are sent to the back surround. I would expect surround to always be at the back surround jack, and the center & woofer be at the center & woofer jack, and the side surround jack to work. Currently the side surround jack doesn't work at all regardless of what channel mode the ATIIXP is set to. It doesn't matter what software is used for the surround; they all behave the same. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eastcheap - 08-07-06 07:48 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm seeing the same thing (or something similar). RL/RR and C/LFE are transposed relative to the outputs in both 4-ch (surround40) and 6-ch (surround51) modes. The mixer works fine (a bit irritating since it rules out a plug swap). This is true with both the 1.0.11 release proper and the version that came with the 2.6.17.7 kernel (rc2 or rc3, I believe).
