The incident, which happened at about 1115 BST, involved an ST75 "wing walker" which had taken part in the East Fortune airshow on Saturday. A spokeswoman for BAA said it was forced to close the runway as a result. It reopened just after midday. Two flights coming in were diverted to Glasgow and Prestwick, while three were waiting to take-off. The spokeswoman said the diverted flights were a Ryanair flight from Frankfurt, which went to Prestwick, and a flight from Charles de Gaulle, which landed at Glasgow.
