The planes were flying fuller, with the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers rising to 80.8 percent, up from 76.8 percent in 2007. The airline, a subsidiary of Seattle-based Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK) carried 1.5 million people last month, up from 1.4 million a year earlier. At sister airline Horizon Air, March traffic increased to 241 million revenue passenger miles from 233 million a year earlier. Passenger load rose to 73.8 percent in March 2008 from 70.9 percent in 2007. The airline carried 659,000 people last month compared with 594,000 a year earlier.
