Farmington looks to bring in new airline services

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - Farmington city officials are
making plans to provide residents with air service to
Albuquerque.

Mesa Airlines announced last week that it will pull
its service before summer's end.

City manager Mike Miller says New Mexico Airlines -- a
branch of Hawaii-based Pacific Wings -- could have a
nine-seat flight in place as soon as 60 days before
Mesa's scheduled departure.

The chief executive of New Mexico Airlines says a
decision on whether to add Farmington to the company's
schedule is pending public approval.

City officials also have approached Great Lakes
Airlines to fill the void. They say the company is
considering adding service to Albuquerque, but they
say the company won't make a decision until it can
increase its turboprop fleet.
