The profitable month, which compared to a $209 million loss a year earlier, is one of a smattering of months in the past year in which the Atlanta-based carrier has been in the black. However, if restructuring items are excluded, Delta had a $43 million loss for the month -- but that is still $95 million better than the year-earlier period. The financial results were disclosed in a monthly operating report for the 28-day period that was filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York. Delta said it ended the month with $2.7 billion in unrestricted cash. Earlier this week, Delta executives told industry analysts gathered in Atlanta that the airline also expects to report a $25 million to $50 million profit in the first quarter, which is typically a slow sales period for the airline industry. Delta is expected to emerge from bankruptcy on April 30. It filed for Chapter 11 protection from creditors in September 2005. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> If you wish to unsubscribe from the AIRLINE List, please send an E-mail to: "listserv@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx".
