Southwest raised one-way fares by $10 on flights longer than 1,000 miles and $3 on flights of 751 miles to 1,000 miles. Shorter flights were not affected. Southwest spokeswoman Paula Berg said the airline expects its fuel bill = to be $800 million higher this year than last year's $1.3 billion. Aviation fuel is about $2.05 to $2.10 a gallon. In 2001, it was $1.
