The Singapore Airlines Ltd. affiliate added that the aircraft will be delivered in 2009 and 2010. The 737 Next Generation aircraft have a list price of $67.5 million each, which works out to $675 million in total. The "next-generation" moniker refers to Boeing 737-600s to -900s. Those models received a technology overhaul, new flight deck and other improvements over previous models. Robert Martin, SALE managing director and chief executive officer, said that the new order with Boeing reflected the company's success with its initial batch of 737-800s, half of which have already been placed with airlines well in advance of delivery. "Demand for leased aircraft from the Next-Generation 737 series remains strong with airlines from all sectors of the industry," he said. Aircraft leasing company SALE has 79 aircraft leased to 33 airlines worldwide and has 32 aircraft on firm order for future delivery, comprising 30 B737 NGs and two A320s from Airbus. -------------------------= --------------------------------------------- Copyright 2006 AP
