My first widebody flights were in 1973 in DC10 and Tristar to and from 
Florida.  Then a 747 across the pond.  Since then 767's, A300, A340, 
747SP and A330.  I will get my first 777 ride late this month.  Don't 
know if I'll make the A380.

Just looking at the DC-10 tells you the number 2 engine was kind of an 
afterthought.  They had an easier time fitting it in than Lockheed had 
with the TriStar, though.

Thanks to someone for reminding me that the 747 preceded the DC10.
