The poverty level figures are from the Federal Government and EVERYONE knows that government always gives the truth.

For some parts of the country, these are the true proverty levels.  For other parts, they aren't.  With a country as big as the USA, there is going to be a wide variety of wages.

Pilots could survive easily on $15,000 a year in, say, Wyoming or Idaho but would struggle in the metropolitan areas of California or New York.
