They have had prior issues w/ the concorde an FOD on the runway. It has had past incidents of damage on take off, including one where the Capt continued on even after he knew ther was damage. Because of those prior incidents, the airport authority has to check for Fod prior to landings/takeoffs. CO is not responsible and CO employees cannot go out on the runway to check if something fell off. -----Original Message----- From: The Airline List [mailto:AIRLINE@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Alireza Alivandivafa Sent: Saturday, December 11, 2004 1:28 AM To: AIRLINE@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [Sky-1] Continental Outraged Over Report Of Concorde Crash Probe In a message dated 12/10/2004 6:06:07 PM Central Standard Time, DZTOPS@xxxxxxx writes: Lots of other things would enter into it. WHos responsible for cleaning up the runway? Were the Concordes tires sub standard? They knew there were problems with them and never fixed them The reason for creating the rule about dropping debris on the runway is because it is impossible for airports to clean a runway after every take off. They did not know this problem existed because the only way to have found out is exactly what happened. The tires were fine, the same as any other airliner. They did switch to a radial design after the crash. Again, they could not have known that but for the accident. CO's airplane was responsible for that.
