If my understanding is correct, the LAX terminals may be owned by the
individual airlines.  Terminal 2 for example is owned by Terminal 2, Inc.,
which is in turned owned by Northwest Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Air
Canada.  This recently became an issue since Virgin Atlantic wants
modifications to Terminal 2 in order to handle the A380, but none of the
terminal's owning airlines are in terribly great financial shape, and with no
plans to operate the A380 themselves, are reluctant to fund the
modifications.

I would imagine that American owns Terminal 4, Delta owns 5, and United owns 7
and 8.
