THE DEBT: The Atlanta-based airline's total debt stands at $20.6 billion. Progress on efforts to restructure a chunk of that total remains uncertain. WHAT'S NEXT: Rank-and-file pilots will vote on whether to accept the new contract, through Nov. 11. In the meantime, the nation's third-largest airline will scramble to achieve all of its cost-cutting targets, which are intertwined. Its success could determine if it will have to seek bankruptcy protection. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 2004 AP
