(Flight was NW#1152) http://www.rapidcityjournal.com/articles/2004/06/20/news/local/news08.txt Flight finds wrong runway RAPID CITY (AP) - A Northwest Airlines plane landed briefly at Ellsworth Air Force Base on Saturday after the pilot apparently confused it for Rapid City Regional Airport. Because the base controls the airspace, Ellsworth officials knew the plane was in the area and prepared for a landing, officials said. The airstrips are within miles of each other. After the plane was on the ground, the 117 passengers and five crew members waited three hours before they could take off and land on the correct airstrip. The aircraft was en route to Rapid City from Minneapolis. The last time a commercial aircraft headed for Rapid City landed at the base was in March, said Millette. A mechanical failure was to blame that time, she said.
