This particular tome is quite dryly written from an NTSB point of view.
It is not very complimentary to the FAA, but examines each incident (AA
757 in Cali, two 757s with taped over static ports, Valujet 592, USAir
427) is extensive aeronautical and human interaction detail.

The authors lists each one of the NTSB recommendations in detail, plus
details the responses from the airlines, unions, industry, FAA,
epilogue and adds various conclusions.

I guess what struck me is that a single simple technical failure should
NOT have brought down many of these jets, but it was the combination
with numerous human failures that were fatal.
