The increased fares are effective immediately, American, a division of AM= R Corp. (AMR) said. The increase applies to flights in the United States = for the world's largest carrier. In April, American announced that it was increasing a separate fuel surch= arge from $10 to $15 for one-way travel for most of its North American fl= ights, but it soon rescinded that increase. The fuel surcharge remains at= $10 on a one-way segment and is not impacted by the fare increase, an Am= erican spokeswoman said. American said that each one-cent increase in a gallon of jet fuel increas= es costs for American by more than $30 million a year. = =A92004 Reuters Limited. = Roger EWROPS
