Directional fares (charging more to fly LAX-SFO than SFO-LAX) aren't the issue. A lot of the "abuse" of airfares is because buying a round trip is cheaper than a one way, and that buying a ticket between two cities with a connection in a hub is cheaper than flying from the hub city to one city. It's the non-sensible situation where buying buying tickets for two flights is cheaper than one. --- David Mueller / MRY dmueller7@xxxxxxxxx http://www.quanterium.com --------- Original Message --------- DATE: Wed, 7 Apr 2004 14:20:14 From: mgreenwood@xxxxxxxxx To: AIRLINE@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: >Most airlines have revised their pricing models and are not offering >directional fares in order to be competative with the likes of Southwest, >Jetblue and Airtran so I don't know why this is even an issue. > >Mark > >Quoting David Mueller <dmueller7@xxxxxxxxx>: > >> On Wed, 7 Apr 2004 14:45:37, damiross2@xxxxxxxxxxx wrote: >> >Another reason to fly Southwest - they don't care if you do this. >> >> Probably has something to do with the way airlines like Southwest, JetBlue, >> and AirTran price their fares.
