============================================================ From: CO News <conews@xxxxxxxxx> Date: 2004/03/29 Mon PM 01:55:20 EST Subject: Gordon's voicemail message from Fri., Mar. 26 Hello this is Gordon and it's Friday, March 26. The northeastern taxiway at Houston Intercontinental Airport has closed through the end of March. They are doing some maintenance work on the taxiway and the departure end of one runway, which means we will probably have about five minutes of more block time. Our flight crews know about it, and they are trying to keep their speed up, and our inflight crews are making announcements. I know the on-time for the month is pretty tight. You guys have been doing a great job trying to cope with the varying weather we've had in our hubs. Just to let you know, I think we will be able to handle it. You can expect that closure through the end of March. There is not a whole lot we can do about the airport schedule. Also earlier this week, US Airways CEO David Siegel, as you might recall was our former Continental Express CEO and a fine man, gave a fairly sobering presentation on a webcast for his employees letting them know where US Airways stand and what they need to do to survive. They are facing some extra competition in Philadelphia with the advent of Southwest Airlines service there. They have had some structural challenges in the past. It just goes to show you that on a comparative basis, we are still on the right path and doing a lot better. And, we can thank you for that. Our Continental Management Association Women's Heritage Month is going to have a panel discussion on Tuesday, March 30. The Association will host a meeting from noon to 1 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza hotel located right next to our Smith headquarters building. NBC news anchor Linda Lorelle is going to host the discussion, and our senior executive team - Rebecca Cox, Nene Foxhall, Debbie Larza, Katrina Manning, Debbie McCoy and Jennifer Vogel will be on the panel. You will get a chance to hear from women who have had great success in the business world, and we are very proud of them. We can all learn a lot from them. I will be there on Tuesday as well. One more thing, WE CARE is looking for co-workers to serve on the board of directors from June of this year to June of 2006. So, if you are interested, send a letter, along with a letter of recommendation from your manager, to Maria Alba, who is the manager of WE CARE. Try and get your letters in by April 16. Interviews will be forthcoming through May. You can look for more details in the Daily News Update. I hope that you are interested in serving. It would be a wonderful thing to do. I am going to be kicking off one of our "Leading to Win" classes on Wednesday for directors. We have different leadership training going on. It is nice to see that we are making some investment once again, training for the right kind of behavior that we want from all of our management. North Houston Reservations is having an Open House on Tuesday. I will be there to say hello to them, and I am looking forward to seeing you there as well. That's it for this week. I'll talk to you again on Friday. Gordon's voicemail can be accessed throughout the week by calling 713-324-6245 from any company phone or toll-free 1-877-324-6245 if you are at home or on the road. At the prompt, press 1. Gordon's message also appears in Shares under GGCALNEWS and on CO's Intranet site. ============================================================ Roger EWROPS
