Citizens welcome London-Ahmedabad flight PTI[ MONDAY, MARCH 08, 2004 01:56:42 AM ] AHMEDABAD: Welcoming the bi-weekly Air-India London-Ahmedabad flight, commencing from March 28, travel agents and passengers in the city on Sunday termed it as 'excellent decision' that will prompt other international airlines to follow suit. "This is an excellent decision by Air-India not only for travel agencies but mainly for the passengers as the peril of waiting for several hours at airport lounges (for connecting flights) would come to an end," vice-president of Cox & Kings Sanjeev Chajjar said. The long-awaited flight is a blessing to all Gujarati families living in London and those who intend to go there and moreover, the commencement of such a crucial flight will lure other key international operators to have a direct link with the city, Chajjar said. The new flight would also be advantageous to those Gujarati's going for trips to Europe and returning as the Air-India's direct link with Ahmedabad (the third after Delhi and Mumbai) would help them get home without plane-hopping, industry sources said. The flight would have a capacity of 350 persons and would be a big boost to the economy considering the importance of Ahmedabad as crucial business centre, the sources added.
