I was talking about padding the arrival time... i.e., saying it will
arrive at 9:00 when it's really more likely to arrive at 8:30. It's
nice when flights leave when they say they will, but what really matters
is when they arrive.

In 1997 I flew LAX-JFK-FRA-VIE on Delta and Austrian. The departure
from JFK was in the middle of JFK's big departure rush to Europe, so we
taxied around the airport for 45 minutes before takeoff. Yet we arrived
in FRA on time. Which was good, so I didn't miss my connection to VIE.
