The Piedmont in the press release is the old Henson. Interesting story behind Henson. They were an air taxi operator in the 1960's that became part of what was known as Allegheny Commuter, Allegheny Airlines arm to serve the smaller airports in the NE after they got rid of the planes that could serve them. It was one of the first airline/commuter "systems" out there, far before hubs and deregulation, etc. Henson left Allegheny Commuter after sometime, was independent for a while, then in the early 80's struck an agreement with Piedmont Airlines of Winston Salem NC to be their commuter airline. Piedmont ended up buying Henson, the first time a major owned its commuter, and it was named Henson, the Piedmont Regional Airline. And that was how it stayed. Until August 5, 1989, when, coming full circle, Henson again became part of what had been Allegheny, now USAir. Sometime in the 90's Henson asked to change their name to Piedmont Airlines, and since USAir owned the rights to it, the did. And that is, the rest of the story. Good Day!
