The aircraft immediately returned to the airport and landed safely. The 11 crewmembers and 52 military personnel on board were not injured. The aircraft was assigned to 22nd Airlift Squadron, Travis AFB, CA. Initial reports indicate the incident is the result of hostile action from the ground but the type of weapon and other details are unknown. A team has been dispatched from Europe to investigate this incident. As soon as additional details become available they will be provided.
