Nah.. Average Joe Moe doesn't have a clue what kind of an airplane he is
riding. If the interior is good the plance could be 40 yrs old.
Or if the interior is bad and the airplane is 20 yrs old, then he will think
that the 40 years old Diesel 9 was much newer..

  True, but passengers will take a new A320 over 35 year old aircraft any
day.  Old 9's don't inspire great confidence in the flying public and I've
never heard an airline brag that it has the oldest fleet in the skies!
Sorry...I like my flight crew older than the plane.
