(BA) for delivery in 2005 and 2006. "I can confirm we placed an order for three (747s) -- two in 2005 and one= in 2006," Nippon Cargo marketing advisor Pete Diefenbach told Reuters by= telephone. Nippon Cargo did not disclose financial terms of the sale. Boeing lists t= he 747-400F at $187.5 million to $214.5 million apiece, but airlines rout= inely receive sharp discounts. A spokesman for Boeing's Seattle-based commercial jet unit was unable to = confirm the order. The sale has not been formally recorded on Boeing's We= b site. = = = = Boeing has posted only three other 747 sales this year and its backlog fo= r the 35-year-old jumbo jet model has shrunk to just 39 orders. The airline, an affiliate of All Nippon Airways (9202), may use the new a= ircraft to expand or to replace some of its 11 aging 747-200 and -100 mod= el freighters, Diefenbach said. The new 747s, powered by General Electric Co. (GE) engines, will offer mo= re cargo space than Nippon Cargo's existing jets plus longer flight range= and lower maintenance costs, Diefenbach said. = =A92003 Reuters Limited. = Roger EWROPS
