Delta Medallion status used to be dependant on either miles flown or
segments flown. Now all that has changed and your medallion qualifying
miles are determined by the fare class of your ticket. If fact Delta now
has a 'calculator' on their web site so that you can work out how many
miles you will receive! If your fare class is U and most tickets are
(deeply discounted, 2 weeks in advance) then you will receive only 50% of
the actual miles flown towards your medallion status. You are still
credited with the full miles for reward travel. The bottom line is that
you could fly every week or every day on a U class ticket and Delta would
not be rewarding the frequent traveller.
