I know that. However, there are exceptions. If the runways at LAX were rounded off, all four runways should be numbered 07/25. Because there's four runways involved and only 3 letter suffixes available (L, C, R for left, center, and right), LAX and other airports with 4 or more parallel runways round down and round up instead of strictly rounding up. > Runways are numbered by the inbound magnetic heading rounded off to two > digits. > Al > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "David MR" <damiross2@xxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <AIRLINE@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Tuesday, August 05, 2003 11:49 PM > Subject: Re: [Sky-1] A318 vs B717 > > > > A bit of trivia for you: > > The LAX runways are not nearly parallel but are in fact actually parallel. > > They are numbered differently to make it easier for air traffic control. > > headings for runways 6 and 7 are 69 degree magnetic > > headings for runways 24 and 25 are 249 magnetic > > > > http://www.airnav.com/airport/KLAX - scroll down to the runway data > > > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Alireza Alivandivafa" <DEmocrat2n@xxxxxxx> > > To: <AIRLINE@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > > Sent: Tuesday, August 05, 2003 19:01 > > Subject: Re: [AIRLINE] [Sky-1] A318 vs B717 > > > > > > > I like the LAX setup. 2 sets of nearly paralel paralels.
