AA 747SPs

Alireza:

    AA indeed flew a route that REQUIRED an SP!  They were awarded DFW-NRT authority in 1985, and the 2 747SPs were
needed to fly it nonstop!


    The two AA-operated SPs were:

s/n 21962/439

and

s/n 21963/441

Merci, Jean-Michel.  Why did they buy them in the first place? They did not
do anything that required the SP, and there were other used 747s on the market
by then that would have worked better.  Another thing.  If AA is this great
airline, how come they never picked up the 744 to do big traffic?
