Alireza: AA indeed flew a route that REQUIRED an SP! They were awarded DFW-NRT authority in 1985, and the 2 747SPs were needed to fly it nonstop! The two AA-operated SPs were: s/n 21962/439 and s/n 21963/441 Dan Gradwohl Mooresville, IN Date: Mon, 4 Aug 2003 03:21:20 EDT From: Alireza Alivandivafa <DEmocrat2n@xxxxxxx> Subject: Re: AA SPs Merci, Jean-Michel. Why did they buy them in the first place? They did not do anything that required the SP, and there were other used 747s on the market by then that would have worked better. Another thing. If AA is this great airline, how come they never picked up the 744 to do big traffic?
