Midwest Airlines expands discount flight program in Florida By RICK BARRETT rbarrett@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Midwest Airlines has expanded its Saver Service discount flight program to include three additional Florida destinations: Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers and Tampa. Flights to the three cities will operate only on weekends between Nov. 22 and Dec. 14. Daily service will be offered between Dec. 18 and April 25. Midwest is launching the discount program beginning in August, when it will serve vacation destinations including Orlando, Fla., Las Vegas and Phoenix. A third seat will be added on one side of the aircraft used for the discount flights, but passengers will get cheaper and more flexible fares. Most Saver Service flights will have free soft drinks, packaged snacks and cookies, with meals available for purchase. Midwest is launching the discount service to better compete with AirTran, Northwest, Southwest, Delta and other airlines on routes popular with price-conscious leisure travelers.
