Northwest expanding service out of Jackson JACKSON, Miss. (AP) =97 Northwest Airlines will expand service between=20 Jackson and its Detroit hub beginning in September, Sen. Trent Lott,=20 R-Miss., said Tuesday. The service will begin Sept. 15, with tickets going= =20 on sale beginning June 28. Northwest Airlines said the expanded schedule=20 will include two daily flights from Jackson International Airport to=20 Detroit using its regional jets. "This is a very important service upgrade= =20 for our state," Lott, who heads a U.S. Senate subcommittee on aviation,=20 said in a statement. "In addition to connecting Mississippi to the=20 important industrial area of Detroit, travelers may access Northwest's=20 vital business destinations worldwide, especially in Japan and other=20 Pacific Rim countries which are very important U.S. trading partners."
