The Canadian government was planning to build a Mirabel style airport for Toronto as well. The airport was due to be located near Pickering, east of downtown Toronto. Like several other airports planned in the early 1970s for supersonic aircraft, such as London's Maplin airport, and Copenhagen's Salthom, the Toronto-Pickering airport never made it off the drawing board.
