Kennedy International Airport, but no one was hurt, authorities said. There were three crew members aboard the plane, said Pasquale DiFulco, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs the airport. There may be some damage to the plane, a MD-11 operated by Gemini Air Cargo, he said. Landing around 4:30 a.m., the plane came to a stop in an area off the end of the runway called an ``arrestor bed,'' DiFulco said. The bed has a surface that acts as a cushion to stop planes safely when they overshoot the runway, he said. The airport did not close, though traffic stopped briefly, he said. The flight originated in Brussels, Belgium. Thomas A. Corcoran, the chief executive of Gemini Air Cargo, said by telephone from the company's Dulles, Va., headquarters that on approach and landing, ``everything was normal.'' He said the company was working with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board to determine what happened. Four years ago, the arrestor bed technology also safely stopped an American Eagle commuter plane that overran a runway at the airport. http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/national/AP-BRF-Plane-Runway.html?ex=1055314487&ei=1&en=f62cf316b5477f09 --------------------------------- Get Home Delivery of The New York Times Newspaper.
