Report: United considers early exit from bankruptcy NEW YORK (Reuters) =97 UAL, the parent company of United Airlines, is=20 weighing whether to emerge from bankruptcy months ahead of schedule and as= =20 early as this fall, its chief financial officer told The Wall Street=20 Journal. The CFO, Jake Brace, was quoted in the Journal as saying the=20 company expected to achieve April and May financial goals tied to the=20 bankruptcy financing package. "We see no impediment to an early exit,"=20 Brace told the Journal in a telephone interview. "But we want to come out a= =20 completely fixed company, not a partially fixed company." He said the=20 airline was weighing the pros and cons of emerging from Chapter 11=20 bankruptcy protection in the fourth quarter of this year or the first=20 quarter of next year, the Journal reported. United and parent UAL in=20 December filed the largest ever U.S. airline bankruptcy, hurt by a drop-off= =20 in demand following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and economic weakness that=20 also led to cutbacks in business travel. At the end of April, a U.S.=20 bankruptcy judge approved a $2.56 billion annual concession package from=20 labor unions, a development which Brace said at the time was a "huge step"= =20 toward emerging from bankruptcy. *************************************************** The owner of Roger's Trinbago Site/TnTisland.com Roj (Roger James) escape email mailto:ejames@xxxxxxxxx Trinbago site: www.tntisland.com Carib Brass Ctn site www.tntisland.com/caribbeanbrassconnection/ Steel Expressions www.mts.net/~ejames/se/ Mas Site: www.tntisland.com/tntrecords/mas2003/ Site of the Week: http://www.caribbeanfloral.com TnT Webdirectory: http://search.co.tt *********************************************************
