Passengers suffer minor injuries in bumpy flight from Houston

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) =97 Three passengers were taken to a hospital=20
Thursday for injuries suffered when a Continental Airlines flight from=20
Houston hit turbulence over the Florida Panhandle, officials said. The=20
passengers, adults whose identities were not released, suffered minor=20
injuries and were in good condition at Broward General Medical Center,=20
where they were taken as a precaution, said Broward County fire-rescue=20
spokesman Todd Leduc. The flight encountered some "unexpected bumps" over=20
Crestview about 1{ hours into the trip, Continental spokesman Rahsaan=20
Johnson said. The flight was not diverted because the injured passengers=20
said they were well enough to make the more than 580 miles that remained in=
=20
the trip, Johnson said. Pilots called ahead to make sure emergency crews=20
were waiting when the plane landed at 1:59 p.m. at Fort=20
Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, Johnson said. "There was a=20
handful of folks on board who said they had been jolted around," he said.=20
The flight had 138 passengers and five crew and left Houston at 11:40 a.m.=
=20
ET, Johnson said.
