Twin Cities, Detroit get more airline competition

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) =97 Northwest Airlines will have a bit more competition at=
=20
its hubs in Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit beginning July 1, when Delta=20
Connection inaugurates twice-daily nonstop jet service between the two=20
cities and Dallas-Fort Worth. Delta Connection is a subsidiary of Delta Air=
=20
Lines. SkyWest Airlines will operate the Delta Connection service between=20
Dallas-Fort Worth and Minneapolis-St. Paul, while Atlantic Southeast=20
Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, will operate the=20
Dallas-Detroit service. "With this new service, customers connecting at=20
Dallas-Fort Worth will have access to more than 255 Delta Air Lines and=20
Delta Connection flights serving 74 destinations," said Fred Buttrell,=20
president and chief executive of Delta Connection. Service to both new=20
markets will be operated with Bombardier CRJ regional jets. Delta=20
Connection carriers operate more than 300 regional jets throughout North=20
America.
