Two Miami airport workers sentenced in baggage thefts MIAMI (AP) ? Two Miami International Airport baggage handlers were sentenced Thursday for stealing items from checked luggage being loaded on British Airways flights. U.S. District Judge Donald L. Graham sentenced Javier Munoz and Onelio Vento to probation, house arrest and community service. Munoz received three years of probation, 120 days of house arrest and 100 hours of community service. Vento received three years of probation, 180 days of house arrest and 300 hours of community service. The court also ordered each defendant to make monthly payments to British Airways to repay $1,500 in damage and loss claims. Four others were sentenced last month. The six were employees of Aircraft Services International Group, a company contracted by British Airways to load and unload baggage for its flights. The employees were supposed to work in groups to conduct surveillance on each other to prevent thefts from baggage inside the cargo hold. But an investigation revealed that during a 10-day period last September, the defendants broke open zippers of luggage inside the cargo hold and stole jewelry, personal electronics and other items, an indictment said. *************************************************** The owner of Roger's Trinbago Site/TnTisland.com Roj (Roger James) escape email mailto:ejames@xxxxxxxxx Trinbago site: www.tntisland.com Carib Brass Ctn site www.tntisland.com/caribbeanbrassconnection/ Steel Expressions www.mts.net/~ejames/se/ Site of the Week: http://www.pscutt.com TnT Webdirectory: http://search.co.tt *********************************************************
