Air Canada Completes Installation of Enhanced Cockpit Door Systems MONTREAL, April 8 /CNW Telbec/ - Air Canada has completed the installation of enhanced cockpit doors on all of its over 200 aircraft in service. With the installation of the new reinforced cockpit doors and security devices on fin number 467, an Airbus A321 aircraft, at the carrier's Winnipeg maintenance base last night, Air Canada mechanics have completed the flight deck security enhancement program in compliance with Transport Canada and FAA requirements. "Air Canada's cockpit doors have been permanently reinforced and enhanced with state-of-the-art technology to offer our customers and crew the highest standards of safety and security," said Captain Rob Giguere, Executive Vice President, Operations. "The professionalism and skill demonstrated by our engineering and maintenance employees to complete this program in record time underlines Air Canada's commitment to the safety, security and well-being of customers and employees." The airline's engineering teams worked around the clock to install the permanent, reinforced door systems. Work related to the security enhancement program was undertaken by Air Canada at its major maintenance bases in Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver with the approval and coordination of Transport Canada. These permanent installations replace the temporary cockpit door reinforcements that were put in shortly after September 11, 2001. *************************************************** The owner of Roger's Trinbago Site/TnTisland.com Roj (Roger James) escape email mailto:ejames@xxxxxxxxx Trinbago site: www.tntisland.com Carib Brass Ctn site www.tntisland.com/caribbeanbrassconnection/ Steel Expressions www.mts.net/~ejames/se/ Site of the Week: http://www.carstt.com TnT Webdirectory: http://search.co.tt *********************************************************
