US Airways names Bronner chairman, Siegel to stay on NEW YORK (Reuters) =97 US Airways Group, which emerged from Chapter 11=20 bankruptcy protection Monday, said Friday its board of directors named=20 David Bronner, the chief executive of the Retirement Systems of Alabama, as= =20 its new chairman. The pension fund had given the No. 7 U.S. carrier, which is based in=20 Arlington, Va., a $240 million infusion in exchange for a 37% ownership=20 stake. Bronner replaces Stephen Wolf as US Airways' non-executive chairman.= =20 David Siegel, who became chief executive in March 2002, will retain that=20 role and run the airline's day-to-day operations. "Dr. Bronner and RSA have= =20 been extremely supportive throughout our restructuring and share this=20 management's full enthusiasm for the direction the company has charted to=20 prosper," Siegel said in a press statement. US Airways on Thursday posted a= =20 $98 million net loss for February on revenues of $473.8 million, compared=20 with a January net loss $98.7 million on revenues of $477 million. The=20 airline has cut jobs by 36% and annual costs by $1.9 billion, and obtained= =20 $1 billion of private financing backed by a $900 million federal loan=20 guarantee.
