Agreement reached in plane crash lawsuit LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) =97 American Airlines and a woman injured in a 1999= =20 jetliner crash at Little Rock have reached a settlement and the case will=20 not go to trial a second time, her lawyer said Wednesday. Nancy Chu won a=20 $5.7 million compensatory damages award in April 2001, and the trial judge= =20 later upheld the award. The jury denied Chu the punitive damages she=20 sought. Fort Worth, Texas-based American Airlines then asked the 8th U.S.=20 Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn the sum on grounds the jury should not= =20 have been told how lawyers for Chu would be paid, and the federal appeals=20 panel agreed and ordered a new trial. Chu's attorney, Chip Chiles of Little= =20 Rock, said Wednesday the case was resolved through mutual agreement. He=20 would not disclose the terms of the agreement. U.S. District Judge Stephen= =20 Reasoner entered an order Tuesday, dismissing the case. John Hotard, a=20 spokesman for American Airlines, said the airline had no comment.
